PAT demands rechecking of votes through NADRA
Describing the NADRA’s report as a slap on the face of the Election Commission, Secretary General of Pakistan Awami Tehreek Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has demanded that the votes polled in other constituencies during the last general elections should be got verified by NADRA. He said that it is in this way that the reality of Elections 2013 would be exposed to all and sundry. He said that whatever Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said prior to elections was proving true with the passage of time. He said that electoral system based on wealth, duress and rigging was responsible for the predicament the country was in.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur expressed these views while talking to a PAT delegation from Multan that called on him in his office today. He said that the Election Commission was still unconstitutionally composed. He appealed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of the report of NADRA and the elections held under illegal ECP and order a rechecking of votes through NADRA.
PAT Secretary General welcomed PTI chief Imran Khan’s expression of reservations about the electoral outcome and reaffirmation of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s stance and described it as a positive attitude in politics. He said that PAT’s efforts for change in the system were bearing fruit, for effective voices had begun to be raised against outcome of General Elections and the electoral system itself.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that it was important to expedite the efforts to bring about change in the electoral system. He said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan was required to play a role for establishment of real democracy in the country.
