Ready to join hands with Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri for change: Sheikh Rashid Ahmad
President of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has said that he is ready to come on the road with Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri for change in the system. He said that the nation would soon get good news and the exploitative system would be sent packing. He said that the entire nation would have to come out on the roads to change their destiny. He said that we were also in touch with Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf as well, adding that it was his earnest desire that the parties struggling for the cause of change got together on a single platform and acted in unison so that the people could get deliverance from the corrupt system. He said that the people were committing suicides while the powers that be did not have any vision, clear headedness and practicable policy to solve the problem of the masses.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmad expressed these views in a meeting with a high-powered delegation of Pakistan Awami Threek that called on him in Rawalpindi the other day. Sardar Mansoor Ahmad Khan, MalikAafzal, Farooq Butt, Ghazanfar Khokhar, Malik Ehsan Mahfooz, Malik Tahir Javed, Allama Haider Alvi, Ansar Malik, Mustafa Khan, and Ghulam Ali Khan were also present on the occasion.
PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, who was leading the delegation, said on the occasion that sheikh Rashid was a true voice of the poor and playing the role of effective opposition in Parliament. He said that both parties had agreed to continue consultation process and struggle for change in the system and ridding the people of price hike, inflation, oppression and unemployment.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that drone attacks were being carried out with the connivance of the rulers. He said that the Prime Minister did not raise the issue of Dr Afia Saddiqi during his meeting with President Obama nor was anything discussed about stopping the drone attacks in the Pakistani tribal areas. He said that it was agreed to release Dr Shakeel Afridi in the meeting. He said that the Prime Minister’s visit of the US was a complete flop and was more of a photo-op. PAT and Awami Muslim League both said that the visit was a failure.
The leaders of both parties were unanimous that the present government failed miserably in resolving people’s problems. They urged the people to take to the streets to avenge themselves upon the injustice done to them. They said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri had given a new hope to the nation, adding that it was about time that the people became part of movement for change and stood by Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri. They said that the nation should be ready to bring down the corrupt and elitist system that had robbed them of their rights and ‘gifted’ them with unemployment, price hike and inflation. They expressed the hope that the time was not war when change would finally occur and the people’s destiny would change for the better.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Mansoor Ahmad khan said that local bodies’ elections were extension of the same system. He predicted that results of the local bodies’ polls would not be different from those of the national elections. He said that PAT would reach out to likeminded parties to forge a united front for change in the country and rid the nation of the obsolete system.
