UK- MQI (Glasgow) arranges Mawlid-un-Nabi Conference

On Tuesday, 7th of January, The Muslim Youth League UK-Sisters had the opportunity to attend a Mawlid programme at the Kabana Restaurant in Glasgow. A stall was set up, which consisted of literature produced by MYLUK-Sisters and also free literature was made available of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri for the participants. The sister’s team consisted of Tasmiyyah (MYLUK-S Glasgow Co-ordinator), Humma, Malayka, Maria and Humaira. Contact details of the female participants were collected so that they could be updated with regard to future events. MYLUK brother, Madni Ahmed Tahir, sang the praises in the honor of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and Shaykh Rehan Ahmed Raza al-Azhari was invited to deliver a short speech in English regarding ‘Celebration of Mawlid’.

Shaykh Rehan firstly discussed that we have been bestowed with many blessings; be it the month of Ramadan, which is the month for the Remembrance of Allah Almighty or be it the month of Rajab in which the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to Mir'aj. The reason for each of these blessings is the birth of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), therefore making the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the greatest blessing to be bestowed upon Mankind. Secondly he discussed that in this gathering we have recited the Holy Quran; we have done Zikr of Allah Almighty, recited nasheeds; did a speech on the Seerah of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So every act that has been performed in this gathering of Mawlid is permissible by Islamic Shariah. Therefore the act of Mawlid cannot be classified as impermissible. He further discussed the 3 principles mentioned in Quran, which are in reference to any favour that Allah Almighty bestows upon His creation. The first principle is to remember the blessing/favour. Hazrat Musa’s (peace be upon him) nation celebrated the favours that were bestowed upon them. The second principle is to thank Allah Almighty for His Divine Blessings. When his is done, Allah Almighty increases the blessings. The third principle mentioned in the Quran is to publicise the favours of Allah Almighty, which can be done through gatherings like Mawlid-un-Nabi or through peaceful walks. In light of three mentioned principles every act that has been carried out in this gathering falls into the category of these principles.

A lot of the things we do fall under the category of celebration, for example the five prayers. The two units in Fajr were prayed by Syedna Adam (peace be upon him). The four units of Zuhr were prayed by Syedna Nuh (peace be upon him) at the time of a flooding. The four units of Asr were prayed by Syedna Ibrahim (peace be upon him). The three units in Maghrib were prayed by Hazrat Ayub (peace be upon him) after he recovered from a long term illness and finally the four units of Isha were prayed by the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Shaykh Rehan concluded by advising that in this day and age it is crucial that we educate our youngsters about their Aqeedah (belief) and he invited everyone to visit the stall and receive free DVD’s of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri as a gift on behalf of Muslim Youth League UK. Approximately 500 people attended the blessed gathering and 270 DVD’s of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri were given freely, as a gift to the participants on this blessed occasion. The event was a great success and on behalf of MYLUK-Sisters Glasgow, we would like to congratulate Sister Shameem and her family for organising such a beautiful event. May Allah Almigty reward them abundantly, ameen.
