MQI Interfaith Relations congratulates Council of Interfaith Relations on its Golden Jubilee
Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue, Vatican City, was founded on May 19, 1964 with an express and clear aim to promote harmony and understanding among faiths and religions. The biggest ceremony to celebrate the successes of the interfaith initiative on the occasion of golden jubilee was held Peace Centre of Catholic Church in Lahore, which was presided over by Arch Bishop of Lahore Bishop Francis Shanay. The event was hosted by Father James Chanan, Father Francis Nadeem. MQI was also invited to the moot.
Representing MQI, Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of Interfaith Relations, congratulated Pope Francis, President of Council for Interfaith Dialogue Cardinal Louis and the ambassador of the Vatican in Pakistan on behalf of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri on the golden jubilee of the Council. He said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri appreciated the services of the Council in promoting peace, interfaith harmony and dialogue among various religions.
Sohail Ahmad Raza further said that Directorate of Interfaith Relations under the leadership of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri was waging a struggle at different levels to promote love, peace and harmony in the world, avert clash among civilizations and build bridges among religions. He said that MQI stood by any initiative that endeavoured to promote peace and end violence in the world. He said that promotion of cooperation between the Muslim and Christian communities could play a meaningful role in the establishment of brotherhood and harmony in the world.
