Countrywide PAT rallies mark passage of one month of Model Town tragedy
The blood of martyrs of the Model Town tragedy will be avenged. All conspiracies against revolution will be thwarted and the killers will be taken to their logical end. The cruel rulers have turned Pakistan into Palestine and Kashmir. Pakistan So spoke leaders of various political and religious parties at rallies organized by Awami Tehreek in over 60 cities including Lahore to protest FIR not being registered despite passage of one month since the Model Town tragedy happened. The demonstration held on The Mall, Lahore, was attended by workers and leaders of various parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Sunni Ittehad Council, MQM, All Pakistan Muslim League, Awami Muslim League, and civil society organizations.
PAT central President Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi thanked the political parties, their leaders and workers for attending PAT rallies and expressing solidarity with PAT. Addressing the participants on the occasion, he said that the cruel rulers were hatching conspiracies against the victims after the Model Town mayhem. He said that they were in error if they thought that they would be able to escape their end by such tactics, adding that history bore witness to the fact that Pharaohs and Yazeeds were also very ruthless and shrewd rulers of their times but the world saw them meet horrible end.
Mian Mahmood-ur-Rashid, leader of opposition in Punjab Assembly and PTI stalwart, said on the occasion that if the cruel rulers thought that the Model Town tragedy would be forgotten with the passage of time, they were surely in the error on this count. He said that the matter could not be laid to rest until the real characters involved in this heinous crime were tracked and meted out exemplary punishment.
Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din of PML-Q said that the present rulers initiated the politics of dead bodies and committed savagery and barbarism on the innocent and unarmed workers of PAT in Model Town on June 17.
Amir Baloch of MQM also spoke to the participants of the rally and said that the cruel rulers turned Pakistan into Kashmir and Palestine by causing the Model Town tragedy to happen instead of protecting the Muslims of Palestine and Kashmir.
The participants of the rally were carrying banners with slogans of ‘Khadim-e-Ala Qatal-e-Ala and Zalim-e-Ala’ written on them. The banner carried by bereaved families of the martyrs read: ‘we need Qisas, not money’, ‘we need justice, not price of the martyrs’ blood.’ The rally was attended by people in large number including men, women and children.
