Dr Qadri demands Sharifs along with govt to go home

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri said he wanted not only the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but also the termination of the incumbent government, adding the national government of democratic reforms would be formed after the present government is dissolved.

Addressing the thoroughly charged participants of Inqilab March, who are staging a sit-in in front of the Parliament House, he asserted the state institutions had turned into the political serfdom of the rulers.

Lambasting the indifferent behavior of the government vis-à-vis Model Town Tragedy and the plight of the poor across the country, Dr. Qadri, who was flanked by among others Ghulam Mustafa Khar and Sardar Assef Ahmed Ali, remarked those who keep harping on the same string of 'democracy', had no shame.

Mentioning the Model Town tribunal commissioned by Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, the PAT chief told the participants of the protest sit-in that the single-judge tribunal had submitted its inquiry report to the two Sharifs; but, they were not disposed to make it public.

It seems there is something fishy in the report, he added referring to that Sharifs themselves were held responsible for the June 17 Carnage in Model Town in the tribunal's report.

"We want the national law to treat the poor and the rich equally, as the equality of the law is a fundamental principle of a civilized society," the PAT chief maintained while complaining of being denied of justice under Sharifs rule for almost two months now.

The fundamental rights of the nation have been and are being breached under the present rulers, he added.

The peaceful participants of the revolution march are the representatives of millions of Pakistanis, who are suffering in Pakistan, Tahirul Qadri insisted.

Reiterating his future course of action, Dr. Qadri noted that he wanted devolution of power and resources to the grass-roots levels.

Referring to the dilapidated state of law and order in the country, Dr. Qadri, who shot to worldwide fame after he authored 600-page fatwa against terrorism, said the participants of the revolution march would like to see Pakistan that Jinnah had envisioned.

Delineating his concept of democracy, the PAT chief took the view that he wanted true participatory democracy in the country, so that every single soul might get their true rights.

The PAT chief also argued democracy was not just casting a vote every five years; instead, it was the name of a system that empowers the citizens of a country.

The PAT leader, who rose up for the hitherto-denied rights of the poor, added, "We are a peace-loving democratic people. We believe in Constitution, law, democratic attitudes, and human rights."

Describing his purpose of arrival in the federal capital, Tahirul Qadri—a prolific author, who authored over 500 books on different topics ranging from religion to economy, said, "We have come here to plead two cases: the Lahore Massacre and the Case for the rights of the People of Pakistan."

The PAT chief declared that first of all, the killers of Model Town Massacre would have to hand themselves over to the police and court of law would make the decision in the light of evidences.

On this occasion, he voiced the resolve that the blood of martyrs would bring about change and these despotic rulers would eventually vanish.

Dr. Qadri cited a statement of Saad Rafiq who, while standing amidst Inqilab March participants, announced the blockade of the marchers would be lifted. Dr. Qadri maintained the federal minister made the announcement six hours ago that the government would remove the containers blocking the federal capital, but not a single container was removed; instead, more were placed.

He added food and water had completely been denied to the marchers, thus.

He wondered as to how the government could talk of dialogues when they were still blocking the roads leading to sit-in, stopping food and water for the marchers, and arresting PAT workers across Punjab.

He declared in a very firm tone, "Even if the tyrannical rulers kill us all with hunger and thirst, this Inqilab March and sit-in will continue."

Infusing the marchers with new passion, he called out, "Rise up and look ahead. Your destination is just round the corner. The sun of revolution is soon to rise." –SAMAA
