The Nation: Qadri vows to bring reforms, new economic system

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri, who does not have a single seat in the parliament of Pakistan, Wednesday vowed to bring revolutionary reforms and introduce new economic system in the country.

Dr Qadri did not mention that under what capacity he was going to do it personally. He did not mention whether he was planning to help the government bring such reforms or he will force the government to do so. Qadri said, "We will bring such reforms that will ensure an end to the rule of few hundreds of families in the country." He further aimed to make the parliament true representative of the people by abolishing the evil of nepotism.

Addressing 5000-6000 people sitting in front of him he said, "We want true restoration of true democracy." He vowed that he would introduce a system of equality and transparency in the country and would leave no stone unturned to uproot the menace of corruption. "Democracy is not possible without bringing economic independence, while currently the country has become unsafe due to poor policies of the incumbent regime," Qadri said.

The firebrand PAT leader alleged that the incumbent regime is the result of rigging and corruption. He said ruling regime has robbed the will and mandate of the masses. He demanded, "I want participatory democracy in the country and establishment of a national government for democratic reforms, the system cannot be changed without bringing revolution in the country."

About the present economic condition of the country, Qadri said that country's economy was about to collapse. He said the economy was highly dependent on borrowings and was unable to pay even interests of loans. Qadri labelled the current system brutal and ruthless, saying it is thriving on corruption and has failed miserably to give justice to the poor masses.

Criticising the economic policies of incumbent regime, Qadri censured the economic policy of the government and resorting to foreign and domestic borrowings and said that country has accumulated Rs 10,000 billion external and internal debt.

Qadri also said that he would give alternative economic system by bringing economic transparencies in the country and would implement a culture of simplicity. He said Rs 200 billion to Rs 300 billion can be saved by adopting a simple system of ruling.

He advised the rulers to adopt simplicity instead of ruling the country like Mughal kings. Qadri in an emotional style said, "Parliament is unconstitutional, illegal, undemocratic and immoral."
