Ghulam Mustafa Khar calls on Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri
Former Punjab Governor Ghulam Mustafa Khar and central vice president PAT Sajid Pervez called on PAT Supreme Council Chairman Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri at his residence yesterday. They inquired after the health of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri. Both leaders discussed prevailing political situation in the country, matters related to reorganization of PAT and future political course of action. PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Secretary Information Qazi Faiz-ul-Islam and Advisor to PAT chief Noorullah were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Qadri said that Pakistan Awami Tehreek wants such a system in which law and Constitution is supreme, national resources are spent for the well-being of people, and no institution can dare trample upon their constitutional rights. He said that it is the result of protection extended to Punjab Police officials and lack of accountability over their involvement in Model Town incident that they did not care about status special persons carry in every society when they pounced upon them, maltreated, and baton-charged them on the roads of Lahore.
Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that police high-ups knew that there is no one to hold them accountable for their actions, so they have every freedom to do what pleases them. He said that PAT condemns this inhuman conduct of Punjab police. He said that the rulers need a police which serves them as their personal servants instead of being servants of the state. Commenting on selection of Justice (r ) Sardar Raza Khan as the Chief Election Commissioner, he said that he is a man of impeccable integrity, hoping that he would play his role in making ECP fully independent and sovereign body in line with the constitutional provisions and expectations of the people.
