Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri to present comprehensive plan against terrorism today: PAT CWC

The emergency meeting of PAT Central Working Council (CWC) was held at the central secretariat of the party in Model on August 18 with PAT central President Dr Raheeq Abbasi in the chair. The meeting took the decision that the PAT chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri will address a press conference today through a video link. He would present a comprehensive plan against terrorism and announce the PAT course of action against this scourge. The recommendations approved by the meeting have been sent to Dr Qadri. The participants of the CWC meeting paid rich tributes to the PAT leader for his scholarly masterpiece against terrorism and suicide bombing.

The meeting strongly condemned the dastardly act of terrorism in Peshawar and termed it a national tragedy. The participants offered Fateha for the departed souls and prayed for early recovery of the injured. The meeting also decided to furnish guidelines to district chapters of PAT to promote awareness against terrorism and raise voice effectively against every kind of social injustice. The matters relating to ongoing reorganization of the party also came under discussion during the meeting. The CWC meeting was attending by former minister for foreign affairs Sardar Aseff Ahmad Ali, former Governor Ghulam Mustafa Khokhar, Sajid Pervez, Muzhar Hussain Dewna, Brig. (r ) Iqbal Ahmad, GM Malik, Jawad Hamid, Raja Zahid, Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, Rana Idrees, Ms. Razia Naveed and others.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Raheeq Abbasi said that the whole nation has given its collective verdict against terrorism and now the ball is in the court of the government. He said that the Prime Minister should also hold those advisors of his cabinet accountable who had been writing columns on ‘bright aspects of Mulla Fazalullah’s life’ and have been at the forefront of dialogue process with the Taliban. He said that the present rulers have already adopted 9 resolutions against terrorism, adding that these are not heavily worded resolutions but strict and across the board punishments which would end this menace from the country. He said that about 8000 people lost their lives in incidents of terrorism in the first 18 months of the present government’s tenure.

Expressing his views in the meeting, Sardar Aseff Ahmad Ali said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has served humanity by issuing scholarly Fatwa against terrorism and suicide bombings. He said that every Member of Parliament and citizen should read this Fatwa.

Ghulam Mustafa Khar said that the incidence of terrorism has increased in the country since this government came into power. He said that if Sri Lanka, and India could overcome terrorism in their countries, why can’t we? He said that man is capable of resolving all issues except that of life and death provided one has the will, determination and commitment to do so. He said that no other political party has as brave and committed workers as the PAT has, adding that these workers will bring about real democratic revolution in the country.

The meeting expressed its grave concern on fast deteriorating law and order situation in the country and demanded of the federal and provincial governments to ensure protection of people’s life and property.

Meanwhile, PAT has filed a writ petition in the honorable Lahore High Court requesting for provision of certified copy of the report of Judicial Commission on Model Town tragedy. The writ petition was submitted by PAT lawyer Ali Zafar Advocate. He has maintained in the petition that according to Article 19-A of the Constitution, access to information is fundamental right of every citizen.
