Caring for and loving the whole of humanity, Dr Qadri’s message on the Prophet’s (PBUH) birthday

To express its rejoicing at the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) held its annual International Milad Conference and commemorated the birthday of the Messenger on the sprawling lawns of Minar-i-Pakistan on 3 January 2015.

On the eve of the occasion, noted scholars from across the country and massive thongs of people – men and women – participated in the congregation with traditional spirit and zeal.

The MQI chief Dr Tahir ul Qadri addressed the participants of the religious gathering via video link. His address began after midnight. The topic of his speech was “love for humanity and non-violence”. The key points of his oration are as follows:

• The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was compassion for the whole humanity irrespective of their race, creed and colour
   
• The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I was not sent to curse others, but rather I was sent as an embodiment of mercy
   
• I intended to make a speech titled “Love for Medina”, but – due to Peshawar and Model Town tragedies – I changed the topic just before coming to the podium
   
• God willing, after regaining health, I’ll resume the revolutionary struggle
   
• The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even in the event of war, you cannot kill women and children. Then how can terrorists kill innocents?
   
• The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I intend to recite the Qur’an at prayer for long, but when I hear a child cry, I cut short my recitation
   
• Political, religious and military leaders should not hesitate to conjointly weed out terrorism and to create a peaceful country
   
• Peace literature must be integrated into the syllabuses of seminaries and secular seats of learning
   
• The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) invoked Allah’s curse on those who kill animals; the one cursed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cannot enter Paradise
   
• Islam educates on respecting the dead, Muslims or non-Muslims. Peace education should be integrated into the syllabuses to tell students about the inviolability of human blood
   
• The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Until the end of the world, terrorists will emerge from Islam and their last group will emerge with dajjal, or the false messiah
   
• The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) condemned the burning of ants to death. How can assassins justify their suicide attacks?
   
• The message of tonight, the night of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) birth, is caring for and loving the entire humanity
   
• We must work towards weeding out terrorism if we want to build a peaceful Pakistan
   
• Minah-ul-Quran is working for establishing peace, and it has set up a Gosha-e-Durood where Durood is recited all day and all night

The proceedings of the night-long conference were televised all over the world. Before the commencement of the programme, the participants were offered dinner for which 1,000 goats were slaughtered.
