Honest, credible party leadership to be elected: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
With
the submission of nomination papers, the first phase of the internal elections of
Pakistan Awami Tehreek has been completed. The PAT Election Commission is busy in
scrutinizing the papers, competence of candidates and ideological attachment with
the party. Hundreds of nominations have been received for central and provincial
office slots from 300 Tehsils and 100 districts from across the country. However,
the PAT chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has given strict instructions to the Election Commission
to ensure that whether the nominations enjoy the approval of the workers and take
strict action on a hint of fake activity. He has further tasked the Election Commission
to investigate this process itself by reaching out to the party workers, adding
that if the electoral process drags on for a while to ensure transparency, the matter
should be discussed with consultation. He, however, said that the election of fair,
transparent and honest leadership representative of the workers’ aspirations is
a must. According to a statement issued by the central media office, one-day training
workshop of returning officers will be held in the central secretariat today.
