MWL (Halifax) organizes first Muharram gathering
On the 19th of October 2015, MWL (Halifax) held their first Muharram gathering. The event was held and hosted by Sister Robina Saghir (MWL Halifax Dawah Secretary) at the MWL Library on Gibbet Street, Halifax.
The Sisters recited Durood Shareef upon arrival. In total the Durood Shareef was recited 5000 times. The congregation began with a recitation of Surah-an-Nas by Sister Robina Saghir (MWL Halifax Dawah Secretary).
Qaseeda Burdha Shareef was then melodiously recited by Sister Mehrun Nissa to praise our Beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings upon him). This was followed by narration of a beautiful Hadith by Sister Jamila Akhtar (MWL North Zone Dawah Secretary). Emotional Manqabats were recited in honour of the Martyrs for humanity and justice by Sister Iffat Zahid (MWL Halifax Membership Secretary) and Sister Sajida Ilyas (MWL Halifax General Secretary).
The guest speaker Sister Amtal Anwar delivered a heart touching speech on Karbala. She narrated stories regarding the hardships Imam Hussain (RA) and his family faced during Karbala. All the sisters listened to Sister Amtal’s words attentively and felt moved as a result.
Sister Iffat Zahid led all the sisters in presenting Salaam and Salutations on our Beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings upon him). A beautiful Dua was made by Sister Amtal to conclude the Mehfil. Lunch was served to all the Sisters.
Feedback from the Sisters reflected that they felt they learnt a lot from the on-going events organised by MWL Halifax for this sacred month of Muharram.
