Interfaith dialogue key to addressing misconceptions: Shaykh ul Islam Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

Speaking at a reception held in his honor in Brisbane, the founder and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, emphasized that interfaith dialogue can help dispel misunderstandings. He stated that Islam seeks ease and goodness for humanity, and through the Charter of Medina, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) granted people of different religions and schools of thought the status of one nation, which proves that Islam does not reject a multicultural and multi-religious society.

The Charter of Medina reflects the comprehensive social principles of Islam, he said.

The reception was held at the Firangi Pani Hall of the Brisbane Imperial Hotel, attended by notable political figures, representatives of civil society, and officials from Australia and Brisbane. Attendees included senior local Australian leader Aunty Dalia, former assistant minister to the Prime Minister and former Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs Gary Hardgrave, Assistant Minister for Education and Youth Affairs Corrine McMillan, Senior Sergeant of South Brisbane Dallas Cowlard, and CEO of the Islamic College of Brisbane Ali Qadri.

Shaykh-ul-Islam said that MQI is playing a role in promoting interfaith harmony. A good human being upholds moral human values. He mentioned that he has authored numerous books in the light of the Quran and Sunnah to highlight the teachings of Islam on compassion, mutual affection, and love, which help in understanding the true moral teachings of Islam. Islam advocates for avoiding extremism and adopting a moral life.

The reception was attended by Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Dr. Ghazala Qadri, Fizza Hussain Qadri, Shaykh Hammad Mustafa al-Madani al-Qadri, Safa Hammad Qadri, Sheikh Ahmed Mustafa al-Arabi al-Qadri, and the members of Minhaj-ul-Quran International Australia and Brisbane.
