Norway: Dr. Hassan Mohiuddin Qadri Launches His Landmark Book, “The Constitution of Medina and the Concept of Welfare State”

Oslo, Norway: On Friday, 17th January 2025, Minhaj-ul-Quran International Norway hosted the grand launching ceremony of Dr. Hassan Mohiuddin Qadri’s groundbreaking book, “The Constitution of Medina and the Concept of Welfare State.” The event, held at Engel Paradis, Lorensberg, Oslo, was a momentous occasion attended by prominent leaders and guests.

Dr. Hassan Mohiuddin Qadri, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, was joined by Bilal Uppal, President of Minhaj European Council, and a distinguished delegation from Denmark led by Qaiser Najeeb, President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International Denmark, alongside Senior Vice President Hafiz Sajjad Ahmed.

The book, based on Dr. Hassan Qadri’s PhD research at Al-Azhar University, offers an in-depth analysis of the 63 articles of the Constitution of Medina. This historic document, drafted by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), established a framework for administration, political governance, the rule of law, local body systems, and an inclusive judicial structure. It also highlighted the progressive recognition of women's rights, including their participation in political and social affairs, centuries before similar rights were granted in Europe.

A significant academic achievement, the book draws on over 2,000 sources—half in English and the other half in Arabic, Urdu, and other languages. It incorporates 26 Quranic verses and 75 Sahih Hadith, presenting a comprehensive view of the Constitution of Medina's relevance to modern governance and welfare systems.

This monumental work is not just a scholarly contribution but a blueprint for the development of a just and inclusive society. The attendees hailed Dr. Hassan Qadri’s book as a vital resource for policymakers, scholars, and students of Islamic governance, marking a new chapter in Islamic scholarship.
