MWF Qurbani Appeal 2008
Qurbani is performed on the blessed day of Eid-ul Adha. It is a day of celebration and remembrance of Allah. Yet not all of us are in a position to enjoy this day and it is the duty of the more fortunate amongst us to help those less fortunate. Every Muslim who can afford to buy an animal is required to make Qurbani.
Every year, Islamic Aid organises Qurbani on behalf of our Donors. The Qurbanis are performed in poor countries and the meat is distributed to among the poor and needy, to enable them join in the celebrations of this occasion.
The destructive Earthquake that struck Balochistan at 5.10am on Wednesday 29 October measured 6.4 on the Richter, displaced over 50,000 people, over 1000 killed and 200 villages affected. It reminded the region of a previous earthquake that struck in 1935 that killed over 35,000 and the 7.6-magnitude earthquake in northwest Pakistan and Kashmir killed 74,000 people and displaced 3.5 million in October 2005. In response to the disaster, Minhaj Welfare Foundation has already sent in teams of volunteers helping to deliver Emergency Aid providing food, medicine, clothing and shelter and the same time launched an emergency appeal for further funds.
