People concerned over increasing foreign interference in Pakistan: Dr Raheeq Abbasi

The government of Pakistan should take a serious note of speculations being expressed by the top US experts about the possibility of Pakistan’s disintegration in view of worsening situation in Balochistan and NWFP. The fallout of ongoing war on terrorism has become a biggest danger to the integrity of Pakistan leading the foreign experts to talk about survival of the country. The people of Pakistan are deeply concerned over the rising interference of foreign powers in our internal matters. The government should understand its responsibilities in this regard.

Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, Secretary General of MQI, expressed these views while talking to a high-powered delegation of Minhaj-ul-Quran International Europe who called on him at the Central Secretariat of MQI in Lahore the other day. He said that we condemned the recent killings of Baloch leaders and acts of terror in Balochistan. The sympathies of workers and leaders of Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Minhaj-ul-Quran International were with Baloch people in this hour of distress. The situation in the tribal areas of Pakistan is very bad and the country is already under tremendous international pressure. The outbreak of violence in Balochistan province could do irreparable damage to the country.

Expressing his reservation of the likelihood of foreign hands being involved in Balochistan unrest, Dr Abbasi said that conspiracies were being hatched to weaken Pakistan politically and economically as it occupied great strategic position in the region. The federal government should formulate a consensus-based national policy against this new surge of provincial violence and terrorism by taking the provincial government on board so that anti-Pakistan elements could not exploit this situation. He urged the government to reformulate its US policy on the basis of equality and reciprocity. “If our present foreign policy were not changed, it could result into serious consequences,” he concluded.
