Tahaffuz-e-Pakistan Ulama-o-Mashaykh Convention today (Sunday, 10 May, 2009).

All preparations of Tahaffuz-e-Pakistan Ulama-o-Mashaykh Convention to be held under the aegis of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council have been completed. The convention will be held at the central secretariat of Minhaj-ul-Quran International in Model Town, Lahore, today (Sunday). Briefing the media about the arrangements of the Convention, Central Nazim of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council Sayyid Farhat Hussain Shah and Allama Mir Muhammad Asif Akber said that the country was passing through critical times. Some misguided elements were misinterpreting the teachings of Islam. The shrines of the saints and Sufis were being desecrated and the religious scholars being killed in the name of religion.

They said that women education was being illegally banned contrary to manifest Quranic commandments. In these circumstances, it is the responsibility of the religious scholars and Mashaykh to come forward and guide the Umma. "It is high time that the voice was raised against those misinterpreting Islam and for protection of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan," Farhat Hussain Shah maintained. He said that it was in these circumstances that Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council has taken initiative to invite Ulama and Mashaykh at one platform in order to chart out a joint course of action. The convention is likely to be attended by federal minister for Zakat and Usher, Allama Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, Khawaja Ghulam Qutab-ud-Din Faridi, Dr Muhammad Sarfraz Naeemi, Deewan Bakhtiar Sayyid Muhammad Chishti, Allama Hafiz Khan Muhammad Qadri, Khawaja Moin-ud-Din Koreja, Pir Munawar Hussain Jamati, Pir Col. (r ) Azmat Ullah Shah, Sayyid Chan Pir Qadri, Dr Sayyid Jamil-ur-Rahman Chishti and a large number of religious scholars. Sayyid Farhat Hussain Shah said that the Convention would prove to be an important milestone for eradication of terrorism in the country.
