National unity dire need of the hour: Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi
Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International has said that the interference of foreign powers in the domestic affairs of the country and indiscriminate use of force were not the lasting solutions to the problems facing the country. Those involved in the terrorist activities in the country were agents of the enemies of Pakistan. Foiling dangers to the national security required inclusive and multiple-pronged approach that could be formulated by incorporating the input of all stakeholders. Only the national response could defeat terrorists.
Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi expressed these views while talking to MQI delegation, which called on him the other day in his office at the central secretariat. Dr Abbasi held that the long-term solution lay in changing the mindset of people and the state had a basic role in this regard. He said that reforms needed to be introduced in FATA aimed at facilitating political integration of the restive region into the mainstream, ensuring economic development and eliminating poverty. He urged the rulers to take initiative in this regard and unite the entire nation on one platform.
