MQI's Central Working Council passes a resolution against load-shedding
The governmental attitude of suppressing protest and persistence of the worst load-shedding is condemnable. The practice of using police against the innocent protestors should be done away with. The recurring hike in power and gas tariffs every now and then tantamounts to taking away from the poor their right to life. The foreign policy should be recrafted in accordance with the national interests and relations with the outside world should be worked out on the basis of parity. The unending bout of target killing, violence and terrorism is detrimental to the national economy. It calls for framing policies based on the facts on the gound. The political parties should keep the national interest supreme instead of resorting to petty politiking. If the people decide to send the present exploitative system packing, they should forge unity in their ranks. Doing so would put the heinous practice of taking care of petty interests to an abiding end.
This unanimous resolution was adopted in a meeting of Central Working Council
of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. The meeting, which was presided over by acting
Secretary General Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, was also attended by Brig. (r) Iqbal Ahmad
Khan, Brig (r) Dr Obaidullah Ranjha, Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, Raja Jamil Ajmal, Irshad
Tahir, Haji Manzoor Hussain, Syed Farhat Hussain, Qazi Faiz-ul-Islam, Javed Iqbal
Qadri and other leaders of MQI.
Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz said that the country does not afford to face any political
confrontation in the wake of peculiar conditions it is mired in. The bigger parties
have started to play small, which can plunge the country into a quagmire of new
political crises. He said that people's rights are being trampled upon and their
rightful grievances are being ignored. He asked the people to create awareness and
get together for national cause. He also impressed upon the people the need of being
peaceful and not taking law into their hands.
