One-sided trial of Model Town case underway: PAT lawyers

Anti-terrorism court is conducting one-sided trial of the Model Town case. The fake evidence of police is being recorded in the absence of the PAT lawyers. The judge of the anti-terrorism court is retiring in April and in order to get the ‘gift’, he is insistent on passing a verdict on the most important case of Pakistan’s history in March ahead of his retirement.

These views were expressed by the head of PAT lawyers team Rai Bashir Ahmad Advocate here yesterday. Mirza Naveed Baig Advocate, Naeem-ud-Din Ch Advocate and Muhammad Nasir advocate were also present on the occasion. The PAT lawyers said that the fair trial is a constitutional requirement but the concept is being torn into pieces in the proceedings of the anti-terrorism court. The ‘trash’ which the Police submits in the name of proofs is instantly made record of the proceedings in the absence of the PAT lawyers.

Rai Bashir Ahmad Advocate said that dozens of TV channels covered live the events happening on the fateful day of June 17, adding that there is not even a single footage showing that the PAT workers were either brandishing weapons or firing it. He, however, added in the same breath that despite this, the police registered a fake FIR at the behest of the rulers and now fake evidence was being presented in its light.
