Speakers pay tributes to Sayyida Zaynab (RA)
A seminar on the life and personality of Sayyida Zaynab (AS) was held at the central secretariat with the collaboration of Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League and Khana-e-Farhang Iran. Central MWL President Farah Naz presided over the seminar, whereas Mrs. Bani Asadi and Mrs. Akbar Barkhordari from Iran were the guests of honour. Former Federal Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, PML-Q leader Amina Ulfat, MPA Saadia Sohail Rana, Imamia Student leader Sajeela Moazzam, Sameena Ahmad, Dr Samar Fatima and other women leaders attended the seminar.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the women of the Islamic world will have to adopt the qualities and attributes of Sayyida Zaynab (RA) and become the embodiment of her character. She said that the future of the coming generations cannot be secured without making the personality of Sayyida Zaynab (RA) one’s ideal. She said that today’s woman is confronted with numerous challenges and the only way to overcome these is to follow the teachings of the Sayyida. She said that Sayyida Zaynab (RA) represented the Hussainyat when she challenged Yazid. She said that the great Sayyida stood up to the oppressor Yazid by becoming the mountain of patience, courage and steadfastness. She said that in line with the teachings of the Sayyida (RA) we raise our voice in support of the martyrs of Model Town. She said that we demand justice for the bereaved families.
Sajeela Moazzam, the leader of the Imamia Organization and the renowned religious scholar, said on the occasion that at a time when the revered Sayyida was left alone with the caravan of women and children and hordes of enemies but she did not lose her calm and braved the difficult time with fortitude and exemplary courage. Through her example of patience and courage, she taught the world the difference between Hussaini peace and Yazidi terrorism. She said that many Yazids are rearing their heads today for which the whole Muslim world will have to forge unity in their ranks.
PML-Q leader Amina Ulfat said that Sayyida Zaynab (RA) is a beacon of light for the humanity. She said that the Muslim women will have to become paragon of piety and virtue by making Sayyida Zaynab (RA) the role model. She said that salvation for today’s women lies in implementing the teachings of the Sayyida (RA). She could not hold herself from shedding tears while talking about the revered personality of Islam.
PTI MPA Saadia Sohail Rana underlined the need of transferring the teachings of Sayyida Zaynab (RA) to the next generations and identified the role of mother as being highly critical in this regard. She said that we need women who can follow the path of the Sayyida (RA). She said that Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) always kept Sayyida Zaynab (RA) with him.
Farah Naz said that educating the modern generation about the manners of respecting the Prophet’s Family is the collective responsibility of the whole Muslim community. She said that the Sayyida established a wonderful example of bravery and courage in the plains of Karbala. Dr Samar Fatima, Afnan Babar, Ayesha Mubashar and others spoke on the occasion.
