IG Mushtaq Sukhera a terrible failure: PAT lawyers

Addressing a meeting held in the central secretariat, PAT lead lawyers, Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry, Muhammad Nasir Advocate, and Shakeel Mumka Advocate, have said that outgoing IG Police Mushtaq Sukhera is a terrible failure. He is the only police chief whose hands have blood of innocent people on them. It is he who supervised the operation of killing 14 people and injuring 85 others in Model Town. More 100 contempt of court applications have been moved against him. The crime registered 20 per cent increase during his tenure. Punjab got the first position in incidents of ransom and car thefts. The police officials lost their lives at the hands of Chotu gang due to flawed planning of the IGP.

The PAT lawyers said that in order to become favorite of the ruling family, the IGP turned the police force into servants of the rulers. Mushtaq Sukhera played a notorious role in arrest and detention of more than 25,000 political workers. They said that he ordered raids into the residences of the PAT, PPP, and PTI workers under a political agenda and thus violated the privilege of privacy of the residents. They said that the period of Mushtaq Sukhera is the darkest in the history of Punjab police.

They said that someone who committed human rights violations and set up records of lawlessness, the ruling family wants to recommend him for Sitar-e-Imtiaz so that he can keep the names of masterminds of the Model Town tragedy in secrecy. They said that the Police has been rid of a competent head but he would not be able to get away with the killings of 14 innocent people. They said that we would not rest till we bring Mushtaq Sukhera into the dock of the antiterrorism court.
