Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (Alayhis-salam) sacrifice drew line between truth & falsehood: Shaykh-ul-Islam’s message on Ashura

The core message of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (Alayhis-salam) supreme sacrifice is to stand up to tyranny and oppression for the sake of truth and justice. Islam’s spread across the continents and regions owes itself to its character and the spirit of sacrifice that embodies it. By offering the sacrifices, Imam Hussain (Alayhis-salam) and the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) family exposed the hypocritical, oppressive and tyrannical Yazidi rule and politics till the Day of Judgment.

MQI founding-leader and patron-in-chief Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri stated this in a message on Ashura. He said that Hussainiyat is all about truth, bravery, trust worthiness and courage, whereas Yazidiyat is another name of falsehood, dishonesty, corruption, moral decay and deception. He said that accursed Yazid included moral, political and financial corruption in the conduct of the state and violated the governing principles and higher values of the State of Madina.

“Yazid promoted a culture of patronage, and cronyism and violated merit with abandon. His was the worst tyrannical rule that trampled upon the human rights,” he added.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that Yazid presided over the coercive apparatus whereby the companions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) were martyred, violated the sanctity of the Masjid-i-Nabawi (PBUH) and Madina City, dishonoured the respected women and perpetrated a reign of terror, intimidation and fear in order to perpetuate his illegal, un-Islam rule.

Shaykh-ul-Islam said that the sacrifices rendered by Imam Hussain (Alayhis-salam) and his revered family will continue to serve as a beacon of light for humanity in general and Muslims in particular. The sacred blood of the martyrs of Karbala drew a line between the truth and falsehood. “It is responsibility of every Islamic state to frame the system of governance in the light of teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah,” he added.
