Minhaj University Lahore hosts Founder’s Day ceremony

A ceremony was held to celebrate Founder's Day under the banner of Minhaj University Lahore (MUL), where the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Shaykh-ul-Islam Professor Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, was praised in glowing terms for his global services for peace and his remarkable contributions in the fields of education, scholarship and research. Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors, Minhaj University Lahore, Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, declared Shaykhh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri as a thinker, stating that he presented a concept of comprehensive reforms in every aspect of life and played a leading role in fostering unity among the Muslim community.

In the Founder's Day ceremony, Chairman Supreme Council Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sajid Mahmood Shahzad, PPP senior leader Barrister Aamir Hassan, renowned columnist Sofia Baidar, famous comedian Honey Albela, prominent trader Babar Akbar Butt, Brig. (Retd) Javed Iqbal, Saba Pasha, and DSP Gulfam Shahzadi paid tribute to Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri for his scholarly and research services and the promotion of interfaith harmony in the world.

In the ceremony, a video documentary based on the life of Shaykh-ul-Islam and his academic and research endeavors was played by the Department of Media and Communication Studies.

During the ceremony, faculty members of Minhaj University, Dr. Fahd Naveed Kausar, Dr. Wasiq Ikram, and Dr. Zafar Iqbal Bhatti were awarded the Best Research Paper Award, while Dr. Saleha Hamid was honored with the Best Teacher Award. Through a lucky draw, Dr. Mahjabeen from the teaching staff, Dr. Shafiq Farooqi from the non-teaching staff, and student category winner Shoaib Ahmed were given Umrah tickets. Pakistani poet Altaf Shah's poetry and a performance titled "Rumi’s Sufi Performance" by Indian folk singer Hans Raj Hans were also presented on the occasion.

The ceremony concluded with cutting of the cake to mark the birthday of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri's and special prayers were offered for his long and healthy life.
