The essence of business and trade in Islam is elevated morality: Prof Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri
President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Prof Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, has stated that the Islamic economic system is a concept that everyone must embrace. He said that within this concept lies compassion, empathy, charity, and the welfare of people. The principles and regulations of any system, he said, are fundamental for its successful operation. Although various economic systems are prevalent today, none except the Islamic economic system is capable of resolving human economic issues comprehensively, he stated.
Expressing these views during a meeting with the delegation of Awami Tajjir Ittehad (Public Traders Association), Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri emphasized that an important principle of Islamic trade is the exemplary role of traders. He said that Islam desires that traders exhibit such ethics and conduct that influence others positively. It is highlighted that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself was a trader and sanctified honesty and trustworthiness throughout his life. The fortunate aspect for traders, he opined, is that earning through lawful means aligns with the blessed tradition of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri stressed that the key to economic prosperity lies in living within one’s means. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised adopting moderation to prevent falling into poverty. He (peace be upon him) elevated high moral conduct as the essence of Islam and urged his followers to embrace it. In the realm of business and trade, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) mandated his followers to uphold the highest virtues, reduce the difficulties of others, benefit each other, and display generosity while conducting business affairs.
The President MQI cited Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) saying that "A believer is honest and noble, while a sinner is deceitful and ignoble," emphasizing the importance of obedience and adherence to the teachings of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). He reiterated that Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) personality is perfect in every aspect and serves as a beacon of guidance for all humanity.
The delegation included the Central Coordinator of Awami Tajir Ittehad (Public Traders Association), Atif Hussain Randhawa, Haji Muhammad Ishaq, Saqib Bhatti, Rashid Chaudhry, Naveed Butt, Rana Manzoor, Mahboob Alam, and other leading traders.
