Import of vehicle allowed on merit: MQI
A Spokesman of MQI has made it clear that the government allowed the import of bullet-proof vehicle for Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri by following the same rules and procedures as are adopted in case of other religious and political leaders. The issuance of NOC in this regard was a routine affair and there was no question of any favour being doled for the said purpose.
The Spokesman said that MQI had two bullet-proof vehicles instead of three which was being erroneously propagated in the media. He said that one vehicle had been in use for last 20 years and security experts ruled out its more use, adding that it was not fit to cope with the security challenge in the present circumstances. He said that it was in this background that the decision to import second vehicle was taken. He said that one of the officials of MQI applied to the concerned department for NOC and was granted the same on merit.
The Spokesman made it clear that payment for purchase of the said vehicle was not made from any account of MQI Pakistan or UK. Three members of the organization paid out of their pockets in their personal capacity. All import-related legal formalities were duly met. He added that linking the import to MQI UK was not correct nor was there any truth in this report.
