Government, Opposition equally negligent towards public issues; PAT
PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that every Pakistani is worried over the current state of affairs, not knowing which way things are headed. He said that the slogans on the basis of which the present rulers got into power under the incumbent electoral system were lost to the winds and they were caught up in other issues. He said that those who never tired of talking about inflation, power crisis, militancy, terrorism and unemployment did not remember what they promised with the nation. He said that the storm of dearness and inflation was sweeping away the people and the ruling elite had left the masses at the mercy of cartels and markets forces to fend for themselves.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur expressed these views while addressing a meeting of central working council of Pakistan Awami Tehreek in central secretariat in Model Town the other day. GM Malik, Basharat Jaspal, MH Shaheen, Jawad Hamid, Mushtaq Nonari, Ch. Afzal Gujjar and others were also present on the occasion.
PAT Secretary General asked for how long the people would exercise patience and let the status quo prevail. He said that time would soon come when they would come to the end of their tether, adding that the day it happened the feudal lords, industrialists, and big barons would be swept away in the tsunami of the public wrath.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that PAT had given a call to 20 million namazis not the voters to establish the prayer of revolution, saying that the former would stay steadfast unless they achieved the destination of revolution. He asked the rulers to ponder over their actions and make amends before it was too late. He said that both the government and the opposition were prisoners of their egos, adding they were interested in power games and paid little attention to resolution of the public issues.
