Punjab Assembly resolution against media undemocratic: Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, president of MQI’s Federal Council, has said that the passage of anti-media resolution by the Punjab Assembly was undemocratic step and betrayed the intentions of the ruling elite to put curbs on the independent media. He said that it was the responsibility of the media to report facts as they are and in doing so, it has only done its duty to keep the people of Pakistan informed. He said that politicians needed to come out of their narrow-minded thinking and act in the interest of people of Pakistan. “When you have legislators in the Assemblies who were elected on fake degrees, how can they promote the public interest and serve the country?” he questioned.

Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that democracy was not about elections only. Elections were just a part of a whole. He said that these were the politicians and so-called democrats who damaged the democracy more than military men. “Unless crucial reforms are introduced in the electoral system of the country aimed at ensuring the participation of middle class leadership, our system is doomed and we would continue to have repeat of such incidents,” he opined.
