Today’s Pakistan clashes with Iqbal’s vision & Quaid-e-Azam’s ideals: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur
PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that terrorism is the biggest and topmost problem of Pakistan and its solution lies in 14-point anti-terror strategy presented by Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri the other day. He said that terrorists and their patrons have held the Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan hostage today. He said that the Quaid-e-Azam’s thought and ideology was under the influence of the Islamic ideals and the non-Muslims had equal rights like their Muslim counterparts in the country established by him. He said that the picture portrayed by today’s Pakistan in terms of upholding rights of the masses clashes with the dream of Iqbal and ideals of Jinnah.
The PAT Secretary General expressed these views while addressing a seminar organized by PAT Youth Wing in connection with the Quaid-e-Azam Day titled “Where is the Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan.”
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the principles propounded by the Quaid-e-Azam to run the state successfully were put on the backburner by the self-serving politicians for the sake of lust for power and vested interests. He said that the institutions have been weakened while the sanctity of the Constitution has been violated by partisan amendments. He said that dictatorial mindset has been holding sway and democracy has been confined to ritual of voting.
The PAT Secretary General said that the Quaid-e-Azam attained the impossible with determination, commitment and passion, adding that there is a need to revive the same passion and determination to look for the Quaid’s Pakistan. He further said that Pakistan was a collective and fundamental demand of the Muslim community. He said that for the country to achieve stability and prosperity, all differences should be set aside and unity forged in our ranks. He said that all political and religious parties would have to work together in order to get rid of this obsolete system.
PAT Youth Wing President Shoiab Tahir said that the powers that be are injuring the soul of the Quaid every day. He said that selfish approach has promoted a culture of insensitivity. He said that economy has been paralyzed in such a manner that the poor’s patriotism has been compromised for the sake of a few loafs of bread. He said that the best way to pay tributes to any leader is that his ideals and teachings are acted upon in letter and spirit.
Irfan Yousaf, central President of MSM, said on the occasion that serious threats are posed to Pakistan’s sovereignty and independence. He said that Parliament has become a protector of the interests of the powerful people instead of playing its role of a legislator. Today Pakistan is facing a critical situation which demands of its youth and students to wake up. He asked the youth to work hard on acquisition of knowledge and promotion of constructive attitudes in society. He said that if they do so, then time is not far away when Pakistan will be put back on the track of development and progress. A two-minute silence was observed to express solidarity with the martyrs of Peshawar tragedy and Fateha was offered for the departed souls.
