Person-specific enactment an insult to Parliament: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the sanctity of Parliament has been violated by passing a law for a disqualified person. He termed the enactment as a rebellion against and rebuke to the Supreme Court and the Constitution. He said this corrupt system and country cannot go together, adding that the government’s resources are being expended to ensure return of a corrupt person back into the fold of politics. He said that the world is making very grave and serious allegation of sheltering the terrorists against Pakistan that has rendered more than 73,000 sacrifices and suffered over a 100 billion US dollars and the government remains busy in politically resurrecting a certified liar. He said that the change in the law to enable a disqualified and disgraced person to head the party has resulted in disfiguring the democratic identity of Pakistan and evoking hatred among the patriotic Pakistanis for the parliamentary democracy.
PAT Chairman expressed these views while talking to the senior party leaders and the members of Core Committee the other day. He asked what moral lesson is being imparted to the people of Pakistan by using the forum of Parliament for an ousted former prime minister. He said that a known corrupt person can never represent the aspirations of the 210 million Pakistanis. He said that educated and honest people of Pakistan should break their silence and play their role to free Pakistan from the clutches of the corrupt elite.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that corruption of the ruling elite is like an open secret and it has been certified by the SC in its historic judgment on the Panama Papers case but under a conspiracy, the institutions are being pitted against each other. He said that the ministers are promoting the narrative of the enemies of Pakistan instead of defending and protecting the interests of the country for which they have taken oath of office. He said that at a time when Pakistan is passing through a critical juncture in its history, the leadership of the country is in the hands of the corrupt mafia. He further said that the people should not be silent spectators anymore and play their role of responsible citizenry.
Dr Qadri said that the ruling political elite and the enemies of Pakistan have ganged up to target the institutions of justice and national security with one voice and this is being done as part of a grand conspiracy to elicit vested interests. The more corrupt political mafia gets space to operate, the more dangerous it will be for the country. He said that time has come for the people to decide once and for all that no liar, corrupt and dishonest person will be allowed to stick to power in future.
Meanwhile, the PAT Chairman condemned hike in the prices of petroleum products and demanded of the government to withdraw the increase immediately. He said that the recent wave of price hike has everything to do with the disqualification judgment. He said that after the increase in the prices of the tomatoes, onions and electricity, the government has had the audacity to hike the prices of Petroleum products which has affected the people at large.
