Education was turned into profit-making venture in the past: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that important sectors of education and health were turned into money-making enterprises in the past. He said that time has come that these sectors of vital public importance are made accessible to the common man. He said that education and health did not get the kind of attention they deserved, stating that unless we put them on the top of our priority list, we as a nation can never progress. He said that no country ever progressed without education. He said that it is unfortunate that this noble profession was turned into a source of money-minting. He said that the educational institutions set up by the MQI are a fine blend of contemporary and religious sciences. He said that no one has any personal investment in the Islamic centres and educational institutions of the MQI across the world. He said that the MQI is investing in the welfare of the people and promotion of peace, love and interfaith dialogue. He said that our struggle at the MQI is that the succeeding generations become prosperous through quality education and are able to contribute to the overall welfare of humanity. He said that our youth will have to resort to knowledge and research for the Muslim world to regain its lost glory.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said in his speech that there is one thought that wants to harm humanity, while there is another that wants humanity to prosper, grow and realise its potential through creative pursuits. He said that the PAT and the MQI workers waged a struggle for upholding the human rights and suffered many hardships in the process of their struggle. He said that the Model Town tragedy was perpetrated in response to their struggle for sanctity of human rights. He said that the students in educational institutions of the MQI are imparted moral and spiritual training so that they could become agent of positive change in society and contribute to its well-being.
