Injustice leads to extremism and poverty: Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) President Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri has said that socio-economic justice and brotherhood are the distinguishing features of Islamic society. He said that Islamic economic system is based on moderation and justice. He said that concentration of wealth has been described as a sin, stating that Islam seeks to build a society on the basis of morality, values and character and discourages amassing of wealth. He said that injustice leads to poverty, extremism and violence in society, stating that the establishment of justice at the individual and collective levels is not the only the responsibility of the state but also the individuals living in it.

In a statement issued here, Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that the holy month of Ramadan holds the lessons of exercising moderation, and patience. He said that one gets the sense of empathy for those who suffer from hunger and thirst in this month. He said that Islam treats concentration of health as a scourge and economic ill which renders societal endeavors for prosperity stagnant. He said that it is for this reason that our great religion emphasizes movement of the capital so that riches do not get concentrated in a few hands.

Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that the Holy Quran says that those who collect gold and silver and do not spend it in the way of Allah, they have the grievous torment in store for them. He said that Islamic society is known by the value of moderation. He further said that economic disparities can be bridged and the wrongs righted through the distribution of alms-donation and zakat among the deserving people.
